There's a more cumbersome way to get GPS data by scraping a webviewer. The Web geolocation API is supposed to give you heading and speed information, but I wouldn't necessarily count on it. I haven't tried to get heading or speed information from it, but I have tried to get altitude information from it with no success.
I need a way to get this data without internet access because I need them on seas.
The technique does not require an Internet connection. The webviewer is populated from within FileMaker using a data URL.
Thanks. I will look at this.
GPS does not provide course and speed, this is done by your app.
GPS only provides Lat/Lon/ALT/Time
I have FM go fetching lat-lon, placing on a map and showing a line from a to b including distance and bearing.
Biggest issue is accuracy sucks and getting FM GO to update the location.
Imagine developing a simple speedometer.
Location B - Location A = Distance
Time B - TIme A = Time
Speed = Distance / Time
But, I can go minutes with no reported change in location.
Also, web viewer is not needed with FM 12, "InsertURL" into container is much cleaner.
