    Get Paths for Container Files?

    twalstead

I have a several container fields whose files are stored externally and not encrypted. Is there a way to capture the paths for those files using calculation fields? (I just assume that, if it can be done, it will be done using calculation fields.) It would be great and very handy if that information could be captured somehow.

          Use GetAsText ( myContainerField )

Okay, that works marginally, but not really. It doesn't work at all on files that have already been entered into the database. And for new files, it only says: "remote:filename" but does not give the path.

Close, though. On the right track and farther than I got on my own.

Try using GetField ( "fieldname" ) .... (with the quotes)

I have a container field ( field named 'cont', FM file name 'contTest' and using the default container storage path) with the same setup and using this gives me, on various types of data:

For a container filled by using "Insert Picture":

              remote:Carotid Duplex Scan.jpg

              size:1016,1016

              DPI:96

              JPEG:contTest/cont/Carotid Duplex Scan.jpg

For a container filled by using "Insert File":

              remote:Import.log

              FILE:contTest/cont/Import.log

The container was set to hold images/files, not be interactive.

You'll have to parse out the file path....and it's relative.
