Some attachments for us to see?
I can't think of any reason why they should past incorrectly.
- Is it only the Text on the left button that is out of place?
- Have you tried ungrouping them before copying to see if that is better or worse, or different in any way?
I ungrouped it and copy/pasted and it still did it. Only the text is out of place.
I click on align top, then back to center and the text did not move. If i ungroup and try to edit the text, it goes to the center but once i am out of editing text, it goes back to the top.
Is the text aligned center (left-to-right) of does it have tab or spaces to push it toward the right (as left-aligned text)?
If it's manually spaced by any method, try removing all spaces on both ends, centering it (left-to-right) and applying any extra indent you want using the Line Spacing tools on the Inspector panel.
Be sure there are no spaces after the visible text in the text block which could cause text-wrapping to kick in.
There was a single space at the end of the text. I removed it then copied and it was fine.
Makes no sense as there was also an extra space at the end of the other button but the text did not shift there.
It was probably forcing a text-wrap, which depends on font size, actual size of the text block, line spacing and indents, etc.
At least now we know what the problem was, but not exactly why it would copy from an OK source and paste the supposedly-identical item at a slightly different size. So it appears that copy and paste may include some behind the scenes size/location adjustment as it's placed/pasted. Not expected, but at least correctable in this case.
This may relate to the 1-pixel shift seen in some layout objects when converting versions 11 to 12, which I suspect is itself related to the pixel-to-points conversion of screens and layout objects' sizes during conversion.
Correctable but mind boggling.
As for the 1 pixel shift, this database was started in 12 so there was never a conversion.
I still suspect it has to do with some auto-repositioning/resizing issues in the new Points measurement system.
If your file was never converted, that's just a further heads-up in my mind that copy/paste in FM12 may be less exact with the new points measurements. I'm taking your experience as a warning I should keep in mind when using copy/paste in 12.
