Insidescan works with FM11. Used it since 2000 in PaperCutPro. Haven't yet upgraded to FM12, but I suspect it will work fine.
There is also an application that i have used called TwainSave.
This utility is a command line interface to the scanner's TWAIN Drivers to initilize a scan.
I have a script setup that runs a bat file that initilizes the scanner to scan a file to a pre-determined location. The script then imports that file into a container field.
After 11 years with Access I hope you find FileMaker a breeze. I assure you it is harder going from FileMaker to Access.

I did look at Insidescan.
I sent them 4 emails but no reply I don't like using products from companies that do not
give support or even reply's on there products.
I will try it anyway.
I think I am going to really like Filemaker 12
I would have stayed with Access but Microsoft will not make it run on a Mac.
and a lot of my customers are going Mac and iPad.
I really love this filemaker Community.

I will check out TwainSave
The absolute best scanning system is:
It is limited to Fujitsu scaners, but they are great. This has really revolutionised our solutions, especially with the new container handling in FM12.
I looked at them and yes you have to use Fujitsu scanners only. That is the only bad thing.
I have thousands of customers using my software now and they already have a scanner.
I would really hate to tell all of my customers that they are going to have to buy a new scanner.
Are you on a Mac or PC Platform?
Obviosuly the Troi grabber plugin works well, we use it a lot with a webcam for ID pass pictures. But it supports TWAIN really nicely.

They used to have a built in FileMaker module download.
Here is also a link from the FileMaker site, though dated 2009
They also have a product called DocKeep and feature a FileMaker Page
Hope that helps
I am using PC right now but I will be using both PC and Mac.
I have been using Ms Access for the past 11 years with my programs but a lot of my customers are going Mac
so that's why I am moving over to filemaker so I can serve both PC and Mac customers.
I went and looked at that but it only works with Mac. I need PC and Mac
I would be patient. His is the only scanner plugin and it works well. He is a software developer too. If you want to go to my web site at http://www.ronsmithmd.com and click on my email address there I'll give you Alessandro's email.
But they don't include twain drivers or driver software for the scanners. Insidescan works well with the $90 Canoscan hardware which has a twain driver. The better hardware has twain drivers which makes them useful. Otherwise you're stuck with a proprietary plugin to directly access the scanner. That has been a problem for me for years.
