    Developer Forum problem?

    lkeyes

      Hi...just reporting:

I posted a discussion question last night.

Got one answer; read it, and implemented it

Got a second answer, also good....

      First answer disappeared.

Now the thread shows my initial question....and two copies of the second answer.

I received eMail copies of both answers.

so, is there someting going on with the forum softawre itself?

I noticied a similar issue last week.

I received an email about a post that was made but when i went to the forum it was no where to be found. I went back to the email and clicked on the link for "go to the message..." and the thread came up and i replied to it. After that, the message appeared in the overview window.

            two issues, both known:

            • if someone deletes a post, you will still have the email but the post

disappears from the site (if there are replies to a deleted post, they

disappear too!); this is pretty bad form but i doubt it will be corrected; also

if you follow a link to a deleted post from an email, you'll see an error page

            — would be much more user-friendly if it told you the post you are linking to

            had been deleted

            • the "two copies" you are seeing are just a side effect of your indicating a

"correct answer"; if you look closely at the formatting of the page you'll see

one copy is the original post, the other is highlighted within your original

question because you marked it correct … makes more sense when there are many

            answers

Ahah... that all makes sense...  :-)

So, I won't mark your answer as the correct answer .....

You should definitely mark the correct answer as correct.  The discussion basically pairs the question with the correct answer for ease of reference for the thousands of others that may have the same question.
