If Steve Jobs was still alive and the CEO of FileMaker, my guess is, he would do whatever it takes to make it a hardware item, perhaps setup "FileMaker Stores" etc.. not sure how this would happen, since it's a software product that runs on multiple platforms, so this whole structure would change.
Why do I say this? Because Steve was VERY admimant about creating products that is both software and hardware in the one box.
I had asked a FM rep the same question and he said FM Go is a free client. Since everything is mobile, that's something to consider...
I think SJ would be doing everything possible to improve the user experience for FM over WAN. There's no way he would be satisfied with it's current state. Just like all the Mac/iOS products, user experience comes first. I'd also like to think he'd force FM on Windows out of MDI.
+1 to "host your FM Database on iCloud with a single click."
• fm server would be a native service in OS X server - supported by server admin tools
• fm pro would become a framework for excode and fully object oriented and solutions could be complied with it and lead to ultrafast execution
• he would buy valentina as database engine
Also OpenFile[hidden] on Windows.
