# combining three fields

Hi:

Currently our inventory in system include 2-3 identifying parts.

a prefix, a number, and sometimes a suffix... for example:

AB 2489

or

AB 980 22

They are broken down into three fields... additionally I have one field that joins these three values together to become:

AB.980.22

invPre&"."&invNum&"."&invSuff

My issue is when the suffix value is empty, it places an additional period at the end (AB.2489.)... is there a way to only have the calculation field combine:

AB.2489

invPre&"."&invNum

thanks.

Try this

Let ( [

A = Case ( Prefix = "" ; "" ; Prefix & "." ) ;

B = Case ( Nbr = "" ; "" ; Nbr & If ( Suffix = "" ; "" ; "." ) ) ;

C = Case ( Suffix = "" ; "" ; Suffix )

] ; A & B & C )

You could also use:

Substitute ( List ( a ; b ; c ) ; ¶ ; "." )
