    Indirection with Conditional Formatting

      I'm having some difficulty creating a generic calculation for conditional formatting. Here is what I have:

      1. A global text field called search_g in all tables.
      2. A text object on the form view and list view. This text object has the string "Search Customers", "Search Jobs", "Search Invoices", etc., depending on the table. I manually change this string and that's fine.
      3. A conditional format on the text object string that says if the search_g field has any data, make the text object string 200pt:

      not IsEmpty ( CUSTOMER::search_g )

      This works fine. However, I'd like to make it more abstract so I can simply cut and paste the text object and move it to a layout with a different table. I've tried the following:

      Let (

      _f = Get ( LayoutTableName ) & "::search_g" ;

      not IsEmpty ( _f )

      )

      Let (

      _f = Get ( LayoutTableName ) & "::search_g" ;

      not IsEmpty ( GetFieldName ( _f ) )

      )
