A real parent to child many-to-many problem

    duva

A question about a creating a relational database to follow our farm business. We raise sheep and goats, and I have not been able to find any 'off the shelf' product that would allow us to follow our herd/flock as we need. I have created a TO of goats/sheep, and am trying to create a join table of matings in order to avoid many-to-many problems. I created a TO of 'sires' and TO of 'dams' by editing the relationships based on the primary key, but when I create a 'matings' table, I am told that I need to create a join table, which was what I was trying to do!

What is the best way to work around this?

      Thank you!
