Put your election worries aside and come to the November meeting of FMDiSC (FileMaker Developers in Southern California)!

Our next meeting is Friday, November 9, from 9:30am to 1:00pm. If you've never been to one of our meetings before, just feel free to show up -- no need to RSVP. We'd love to see you at the meeting! New members are always welcome and, as always, there is no fee for the meeting or for FMDiSC membership.

      ----- NOVEMBER MEETING AGENDA -----

      Great meeting this month!

      MirrorSync

We have a special, out-of-town presenter this month! Jesse Barnum, President of 360Works will be demonstrating MirrorSync, a turn-key system for doing bidirectional synchronization between FileMaker Server and FileMaker Go or FileMaker Pro. MirrorSync is ideal for users who need read/write access while working offline on their iPads, iPhones, and laptops, and is also a great performance booster for remote WAN users to work on a local copy of a database while regularly synchronizing with the host. Jesse will demonstrate how easy it can be to add bidirectional synchronization to your solution. Jesse is a Platinum member of the FileMaker Business Alliance and the recipient of the 2009 FileMaker Excellence award for outstanding contributions to the FileMaker community. He is a frequent speaker at the FileMaker Developer Conference, user groups in his hometown of Atlanta and around the country.

      CUEBA

Christian Klein, a long-time FMDiSC member will preview a new version of his solution "CUEBA", a project management system for film composers and music editors. CUEBA has been used in over 100 Hollywood feature film productions to organize and track music cues throughout the entire process of incorporating music into film. Christian will focus on the new, highly-customizable reporting system that allows the user to dynamically create spreadsheets based on user-defined status fields. Christian will also talk about his experience in marketing and licensing this solution. Christian is the co-founder of Advanced Basics, LLC, a company in Santa Monica that specializes in custom FileMaker Pro systems for the entertainment industry.

      Triple 8 Hosting

Louis Vasquez, President of Triple 8 Hosting will be discussing their hosting operations. Founded in 1992 and based in Los Angeles, Triple 8 has been hosting FileMaker databases since 1998. Today they manage over 60 FileMaker servers on 4 continents, with FileMaker hosting clients in over 30 countries. Triple 8 will be introducing a completely revised FileMaker hosting control panel with many new features requested by our FileMaker developers. Many of the new features are specifically designed to assist developers in hosting a large number of FileMaker databases across a multitude of servers.

      Asset Tracking Round Table

We've decided to turn the group loose on a round table discussion on Asset Management systems using FileMaker Pro. David Knight will lead a spirited discussion on the many things to think through when storing images, documents, movies, etc. in your FileMaker Pro systems. Uploading, downloading, rendering, searching, versioning, manipulation, etc. We want to hear your inspirations, frustrations and triumphs as you've played in this realm. Come ready to share your experiences!
