Can't say on the Windows side but on Mac when the StartPage downloads the java startup file for the first time (downloads to my Downloads folder) it asks where to create a shortcut???
Unfortunately not working on my server:
OS X 10.7.5
Java Version 7
FMS 12 220.127.116.117
I tried localhost:16000 and did not ask to create a shortcut.
Am I missing anything?
If you look in your Downloads Window for the web browser, you should see a java file called admin_console_webstart.jnlp
You can drag that to the desktop and it will work as a shortcut -- but it does not look like the one we used to have.
I suspect the former behaviour is still one of the features that went AWOL with the latest round of Java updates and is not yet working with Java 7.
Hopefully a better fix is in the pipeline.
I was able to do what you've described with version 2. I was hoping to get this fixed with this release.
FileMaker stated that this release fixed problems with admin console. Unless there was something behid the scene that we were not aware about.
Sorry, I'm still on Version 2 of FMS 12 as I didn't see anthing in the list of fixes for V3 that was likely to help me.
Your issues suggest that I should wait for V4 before making it more difficult yet to Open the Admin Console!!
as a matter of fact, when I checked again the list of fixes for this release, there was nothing to indicate that they've fixed Admin console issue.
It was just my expectation that made me coming to that conclusion. I just can't believe bug like that couldn't get to the very top of the list of fixes.
