    Sub Summary Report possible?

    synergy46

I am using FM 12 Adv v 03 on OSX and Windows.

      My diagram looks as depicted.

The data input is as depicted.

      Question:

"I would like to have a report that groups by Meeting Date and then shows BOTH Members and Visitors who attended that meeting."

I can do this with a layout based on meetings with two portal: one for Members and one for Visitors but that only shows the attendees for a paricular meeting.

I need a sub submmary report by Meeting Date and that shows an additional grouping by Member and then by Visitor.

Got any ideas? Thanks for reading.

This would be easy if you used the same join table for both purposes. Perhaps you could even merge Members and Visitors into a single table - but that's not essential for the purpose at hand.

Yes, it would be easy if there was a single join table.

But, I need some reports on Meetings dates showing Visitors and some reports showing Meeting dates with Members.   This works.

The problem is to show grouping by Meeting Date AND subgroup by Member AND subgroup by Visitors for each Meeting Date.

            For example:

            March 1, 2011

               Members

                   John Jones

                   Bill Clinton

                   Jessee James

                Visitors

                    Sam Smith

                    John Dillinger

                    Stan Kann

            April 22, 2011

            etc.....

That too would be easy to do by finding only the type of attendant required for the report.

You can add a Table, just for Reports

find and import members & visitors into the "reports" table, then sort and print

then delete all records, and start over

Yes, you could do that (provided only one user reports at a time). Or, you could keep them in the same table to begin with and save yourself the trouble.

and mark each imported record with the Users name,  so you can find, sort, and delete reports for multiple users

Thanks to everyone for the ideas.

The immediate question is "Is there a way to use the existing tables to allow the creation of the report previously described?"

Sorry, but if you need the report to be extensible, then the immediate answer is no.  This is a very common problem
