just to get this clear:
first entry = test1
next day entry = test2
and you want the text in that field to read: test1 test2
where both words are in a different color?
or is test2 replacing test1, but appears now in a different color?
Your first scenario is correct, the text will not be replaced but will have any added text in a different color if it is not entered on the same day.
OK, you should do something like this, using script trigger OnObjectEntry and OnObjectDSave
(I am assuming this is FMP 11 or 12)
Isolate the new text from the old text using $$OldText and $NewText variables.
Then change the color of the new text with:
TextColor ( $NewText ; RGB ( 255 ; 0 ; 0 ) )
This will result in the new text to be red.
Great, I’ll try that. Yes, I’m in v11.
Have you considered entering the text in a related table (e.g. "Notes")? That way, each note could have a timestamp and the user name auto-entered, and it would be easy to distinguish what happened when.
I didn’t but will ask the requester of the form if that is an option he would entertain. Thanks for the idea ☺
