I would like to write a script that would remove a space that is at the every end of the First Name in the First Name field. How would I go about doing that?
One this to keep this from happening is in the Mangage > Databases, the modify the First Name field (click on optins) and then the "Auto-Enter" tab, select the "Calculated Value" and specify a calculation of Trim ( First Name ), and press OK. Then uncheck the "Do not replace value of field" and when someone puts in a new name name and it has a space at the end, that space will get trimmed off automatically.
But for fixing ones already there:
Go to ____ Layout
Enter Browse Mode
Show All Records
Go To First Record
Set First Name = Trim ( First Name)
Go to Next Record, exit on last
Doesn't have to be a loop to replace the existing contents with a trimmed version of itself. You can use the Replace command. Replace with Calculated Result => Trim (First Name)
Good point, David. I seemed to have forgotten about that.
That is awesome!
