I have a FM database on a FM hosting service. (triple8) I can connect to it with Safari. Go will not connect to the http site.
Any suggestion here? Thanks
FM Go does not use the http protocol to connect to a served database. It uses the fmp protocol.
Your hosting service should really be able to answer this question for you... However, you just need to enable FileMaker Network Sharing - the same as when enabling FileMaker Pro access - and you can then login with Go as well with the same authentication info.
can you connect to the hosted database with FMPro?
Do you need to use VPN or something?
You don't need VPN. FM Go has a section to add host information.
1.You need to open an account with a FM host
2.Need to upload you FM file to host via FTP or thru host website
3.connect via FM Go using the remote File and Host options
i hope this helps.
You NEED VPN if that is how you connect FMPro to FMServer. Open remote is the next step. If (and only if VPN is the case), then FMGo must also use the VPN. I have several clients that are this way. I was asking if the OP was connecting at all this way to the database.
"I can connect to it with Safari." in the original post probably means that it's Web Published (but not necessarily, as this may be some sort of "control panel" or even FMServer Admin. We need clarification.
