I wonder what you mean by nearly due. In the next hour? The next day? You could run a scheduled script that pops up a window. That very well may be annoying for the user however. Perhpas you have a Notifications table and display such in a corner of your layout in a portal, or in a separate notifications window. Could include an email notification as well. Then the scheduled script would create new records in that table, checking the dates and times of upcoming events first. The script step Install On Timer Script is the script step to use.
If your solution is hosted by FileMaker server, then you can use a scheduled server side script to do the processing and record creation.
Another possibility would be to integrate with Growl notifications. I have not done so myself, but have seen demos of such.
hello i have 5 service dates that have been calculated from when the service was done. I would like a calculation that lets me know when a service is due within 14 days if u get what i mean.
this what ive got for working out the next service date 12months ahead.
VarDate = GetAsDate ( Date serviced intruder )
IsValidExpression ( 1 * VarDate ) ;
1 * VarDate + intrudermonthlytype +
not Int ( Mod ( 1 * VarDate + 687 ; intrudermonthlytype * 4 + 1 ) / intrudermonthlytype )
But i would like to do the same but so it works out which one is due within 14 days
How about this:
Case ( get (currentdate) + 14 >= Date ; 1 ; "" )
you could even make it a custom function using Date as parameter in the function.
cfServiceDueWithin14 ( date ) = Case ( get (currentdate) + 14 >= date ; 1 ; "" )
Not sure why you are needing to validate the date. Is the date field not a date type?
many thanks for that, ive now noticed that i need it to do it in a seperate window and to display the corresponding customers details aswell... so when its within the 14 days a window pops up with customer id number and the service due date... but once the due date has passed the current date then i want it to stop displaying that record details altogether if you know where im coming from.
