That doesn't sound right
If you set field, then commit thru FileMaker, it should know when it's "done"
have you tried calling Tech Support ?

Can you have your ODBC operation write a record to another table when the process is complete? Then you can use a timer procedure to refresh and check the utility table to see if the job is complete. You can also post intermediate messages to such a table to give you overall project status. (x of x type info).
