FSA 10 "Activation" Surprise

Question asked by gdurniak on Feb 7, 2013

our IT guy just loaded our FileMaker Server 10 Advanced License on a new mac mini, and tested it

he then turned off the "new" mini, but the "old" install would no longer run

he had to re-install the license on the old mini

can anyone explain why this might have happened ?

It seems all "activation" is now local. Would it prompt you to warn if the license is in use ?

and I thought the license allowed loading on two machines anyway ...

he ended up calling FileMaker for a "Trial" license, to make the transition easier
