> *(Windows) FileMaker Server 11.0v5 installs Java 6 Update 37 on Windows.
After all the hoopla over Java security vulnerabilities, and the availability of an updated Java 7,
why in the world would FileMaker release a Server update that installs Java 6 on Windows?
If I had to guess (because I don't work at FMI and therefore have not clue to their actual reasoning)...
Java 6 is:
- not as buggy as 7 because it's been around longer and had the kinks ironed out
- since 6 has been around longer it's probably more compatible with Java-dependent software (i.e. Java 7 doesn't work with Open Office)
