Don't use the Resize to Fit option as it will always expand to the bottom of the screen when in list view as you have observed.
Instead, figure out the dimensions of the window as you want it to be set to, then use the resize window command and put in those dimensions. You can also control where on the screen the window appears in this same command.
Just make sure that if you have multiple windows open in your solution that you address the correct window when resizing.
Thanks - it worked. Well, worked pretty well. I still get the flash of the layout going to the bottom of the screen when the load layout command executes, then I put in the move/resize commend to follow and the window goes to the correct dimensions. That half second flash is annoying, but at least I can control the size of the window.
I'm still wondering what I'm doing wrong to force the list layout to go to the bottom of the screen.
Read BowdenData's answer carefully - especially the first seven words ...
There is no "Resize to Fit" script step anywhere in the script that invokes the list layout. Yet it still flashes to the bottom. Something else is causing this behavior - not a Resize to Fit script step.
You know, you're right. There was a Resize to Fit buried a few levels down in my scripts that I had missed even when using the debugger. And getting rid of it absolutely solved the problem. Makes me feel a bit stupid by missing that, but a lesson well learned. Thanks for your help.
Very strange. I have just verified in FMP11 on a Windows PC and FMP12 on a Mac. My test scenario is that I have an existing window and call a script that contains just the command to go to a layout - and that layout is set to be in list view - it works fine. The new layout is shown in list view and the window dimensions don't change at all.
If I open a new window (without specifying any dimensions, etc.) first, and then go to the list layout, same deal.
I sure sounds like there is an "Adjust Window" command in there somewhere.
Can you post your script that goes to the list view layout?
