I have a field defined to be unique within my table. I have the file set up to auto add so as the user does not need to confirm. Sometimes, when adding a new record to the file, a duplicate is created in which the user is asked whether to "revert" or say OK. I have set the validation to not allow the user to override and I have set up a custom script to set error capture on and if it is finding a duplicate, to display a custom message. My problem is that I am not catching the occurance at the correct time so the default FM error handling is occurring which is very un-user friendly. What is the best way to add a record and to check for duplicates before the FM validation handling takes over.
I am somewhat new to FM and do not know all the nuances of error handling.
