Seconds since the beginning of time

    micinfo

I'm looking for a quick and dirty way to mark events with a number that's a simple unique identifier (e.g., not a "timestamp"). Ideally, it would be a count of the total number of seconds that have transpired since the "beginning of time". Other data management tools have such a cumulative time-related incremental function but I'm unaware of that in FMP. For example, the old Hypercard had the "Seconds" function which was the accumulated number of seconds since something like 1/1/1906. Can anyone suggest a quick way to derive the total number of seconds since the "beginning of time" other than the obvious clock-hungry brute force piecemeal calculation using standard date/time parameters parsed into an aggregate of seconds?

      Thanks!
