Repeating field boundaries showing even when set to none or 0 pt

Trying to generate barcodes in FileMaker using a calculated repeating field. The idea is to fill the repeats with black, whenever a string contains a 1 on the position of the repeat. Given that there is a global container field filled with black and a text field called barcodeString, to be filled with 1's and 0's, the following simple calculation does just that:

Let(

[ brst = Extend( barcodeString )

; blck = Extend( g_black )

; rpnr = Get ( CalculationRepetitionNumber )

];

Case( Middle( brst ; rpnr ; 1 ) ; blck )

)

Barcodes consist of black lines of several width's. When the field barcodeString contains for instance '1110000....', the first three repeats of the repeating field should be black. And they are. Only, whatever I try, the lines surrounding repeating field show up, even when set to 0 line width or whatever.

Any ideas, or is this just a FileMaker bug?
