Do Runtime solutions really need an installer on Windows?

I'm creating a FM runtime solution that'll be deployed on both Mac and Windows.

I'm also creating a separate Java program that will have to use data exported (.mer files) from the database (on both Mac and Windows).

What I want to do is put the Runtime solution and Java program in the same folder (along with the directory structure to save the .mer files) and have pathnames in the runtime solution and Java program just be relative to that directory.

The user could then just drag this single directory to wherever they wanted to use it on their computer (I'd encourage them to put it in their "Documents" folder) to "install" the program.

The above works on a Mac. Are there any problems doing this on Windows?

Kind regards,
