I have been looking for a solution to easily capture an image from a web cam or other attached cameras and insert them into a container field. I have looked thru the archives not found what I consider to be a great solution. Troi Grabber does what I want it to do, but at $1k for a developer license, I cannot justify it for my use. Because I am using primarily MacOS X, I have cobbled together a solution that uses a command line from AppleScript to capture an image using the free "imageSnap" command line tool. This works and is not too difficult to install and use on a new machine.
Am I missing any other methods or solutions to accomplish this otherwise simple task?
If an attached camera supports TWAIN, you might be able to get a TWAIN capable plugin for cheaper.
However, web cams are DV devices, IE they are not TWAIN compliant, so this would work for stills only from an external camera, and not the webcam.
