Am I crazy, or is there not a way to add "Open Favorite" as a menu item when using Custom Menus?
I don't see a way to open favorites directly. You can however open the Quick Start, which exposes a favorites option to the user. I guess you could also use Open Remote if you know the target beforehand. Open URL could also open a specific file.
Thanks, Tim. Answers the question: I'm not crazy (well, no more than usual).
I think you need to be looking at SUBmenus. You might want to try this: On a custom menu, under Menu Items, click Create. Then, for the Menu Item Type, pick Submenu, and then Specify. You should see Open Favorites as an option. See attached image. If you think about it, it doesn't make sense to put submenu at the top level of the menu bar (where File and Edit are) because the arrow and the rest of it would get in the way of the menu bar.
Does that help?

That's very strange, because that's exactly what I did ... except I got the result I posted.
I'm not near a computer (and won't be for a while; using my iPad), so I can't verify. But I'm fairly certain I did choose "Submenu" and got a different result from you.
I'll check again in a few days when I can.
Also many thanks to Debi for your input.
I had custom menus created in v 11 and it doesn’t show up in the available items. However, if you create a new menu in v 12 then there it is just like Debi says. It must be one of those things that you cannot add it to a converted menu, but with new menus it is available. Also you can in v 12 insert the favorites menu and add it to your set.
That must be it; I was trying to add it to a base File menu. I'll try it when I get back to the house.
Found the problem. Apparently, in earlier iterations of Advanced 12, the [Open Favorite] submenu was not available. You have to click the "Update" button (shown below) to get it to pull in:
Mine's ghosted now that I've performed the operation, but just for future reference (in case someone else has the same problem).
Thanks for the help!
Glad you got it sorted out.
Please share your thoughts for use of this addition to the menus.
I use "Open Favorites" quite a bit here at the house. But my wife likes to use some of my home-grown apps as well. I wanted to trap the "Print" command so it would switch to the correct layout instead of printing what was on the screen and make it easier for her (so she wouldn't have to click the "Print" icon). But when I did that, I lost my Favorites. So having that menu option available for situations where you just want to make a minor tweak to the menus - where you basically want the standard menus, but with a slight adjustment - is handy.
Update! Totally missed that button, now I'll be looking for it everywhere.:-)
Thanks for clearing that up,
