I need to read a pulse counted number from some device. The 2 ways that I can think of are: connecting to a standard pulse counter via a serial or networked output or create a device using an Arduino and connect to it in some way.
I have connected FileMaker to a counter (via serial comm) in the past and it worked well. A little expensive though.
I can probably figure out how to make a counter out of an Arduino. This seems less expensive and more versatile.
Either way, I would like to access some device via an Ethernet connection, which I do not know how to do.
What are my options for connecting to the physical world?
