Are they on wired connections or wireless? Wireless connections are a lot more suspect to drop issues.
Also, are the users receiving an error message when they're disconnected?
Is the disconnect occuring while they are idle or while they are in the middle of work?
What type of network integrity checks have you done?
Is this all on a local network? or are parts of it (server, clients, etc..) accessing via WAN?
Have you set the idle timeouts to the max in FMS Console?
I've run a 9 server since forever and I have not had such disconnects regardless of FMP version.
They are wired connections. All of the network functions with out issue
such as server access and internet connectivity. I appreciate your input.
Honestly I did not change any of the default settings. I am new to
Filemaker so I am still learning. What do you recommend? Thank you very
much for your assistance.
Check the energy saver settings. If the computer goes to sleep it will disconnect Filemaker from the server...
First set the disconnect on inactivity to never for each privilege set
second whilst user screens can turn off ensure that their hard drives are not permitted to power down - when they do so on Mac or PC the connection will be lost.
However, if connecting with FMGo under iOS the connection can be re-established ad infinitum - a fantastic feature to request for the future for Pro.
Yes... Like John said... Make sure the Computer Never sleeps nor does the Hard Disk.
Also make sure you don't have schedules turned on.
... plus what Nick said...
Nick, I agree this is great fmgo feature but it has a huge potential problem if a user has an uncommitted record when they are disconnected. FMGO will reconnect but it will record lock itself which will put the user into a loop of Revert messages that can only be escaped by quitting the app or restarting the iPad.
