Somehow the winndow is not active.
Are you sure you don't have a dialog or calculation window open that has gone behind?
Try to comand-Tab to another app then back to FMP. Do a command-fullstop... then click on the manage scripts window.
Is the script debugger up possibly?
Thank you. I had tried all the above possibilities: Script debugger was not up but would appear and close on command. No other windows to be found. The mystery remains. Thankfully, I only lost about 5 minutes of work force-quitting.
Could be a memory issue. Try quitting another running application(s) and see if that helps.
This sounds a lot like a known issue that many of us have experienced. See this post for details:
Might be worth you updating this so FileMaker Inc. know it's still an issue.

I've just had a look at the forum post; thanks databuzz. The only time I have experienced anything remotely like this is when I have not realised that a script is in progress. Have you (or anyone who has the issue arising) tried stepping through the suspect script using the debugger? Does the problem still occur when stepping through a script rather than the script running free? If not, why not? If so, at least you will narrow down to the problem script call.
Hey Mr Buzz, (LOL)
A minor price to pay for the benefit of having multi-mode windows for scripting. Remember the old days..?
