If you sort the relationship, the List ( ) function will return the data in the order you specify.
The easiest way is to sort the relation in the releation diagram. If that is not an option there are Custom Functions to sort the list;

Sorting the relationship in the relationships graph is one way to do it, but I don't recommend this method. It can unnecessarily slow down any operations that don't need to sort the records, and you'd have to make a separate relationship for each different sort you might want to do.
Instead, you can use a custom function to sort the values after the List function has retrieved them (this one is my personal favorite for performance reasons). If you're using FileMaker 12, you can use the ExecuteSQL function instead of List, and specify whatever sort order you want in the query, including sorts based on fields that aren't returned by the query.
