Does anybody know when Filemaker will be posting the Session Recordings of DevCon 2013
Last year we were mailed DVDs of all of the recordings toward the end of the year. I'd imagine it's the same this year. They are not posted online unless the policy has changed.
I recall there being some sort of advance notice that was sent to my email address that I used to register for devcon as well when the DVDs were shipping.
I don't think there has been an official annoucement yet as to whether they are going to release free recordings like they did last year (1 per month). If they do, watch this space: https://fmdev.filemaker.com/community/technical_resources/webinars
If you attended DevCon, then as Mike said...you will receive the recorded sessions in the mail after they finish processing them.
The recordings will be available approximately 4-5 weeks. We'll make them available online this year (as opposed to shipping DVDs).
Is FileMaker, Inc. considering a password protected iTunes feed so as to
transmit associated metadata?
Perhaps it would be simpler to use a naming convention for the folders (and
files) to make it easier to search for content on the disk.
For example, here is how I named a containing folder for one of the
presentations in 2012:
COR013_Oleg Zaydman_Container Field Under The Hood
Could also have been:
COR013_Container Field Under The Hood_Oleg Zaydman
I found this naming useful to me. I wonder if others would benefit as well.
Hope that helps.
All the best,

We won't be using iTunes for these recordings, but I will ensure the naming convention is clear at first glance.
I'm excited about these!
Thanks...looking forward to the downloads.
Same here. Had to make tough choices at DevCon ..made easier knowing the others would become available ...love this stuff!!!
This only avail to attendees??
Are the files available at all like last year without being an attendee??
The full library of sessions will be made only available to attendees. However, throughout the year, we'll share various session themes and topics to TechNet at large. They will not be available for purchase.
Any chance the files will be made available as a DMG or ISO image for easier downloading?
Not for this version, but certainly could make the suggestion for next time.
So what's plan for release to Devcon attendees? When are they likely to be out? I have seen a few people mention the recordings on twitter but don't recall seeing a release announcement.
We released them last week, please check your email with subject: "DevCon 2013 Session Recordings Now Available".
Oops, there it is, thanks.
So I found the recordings - thanks!
But the page that has links to the recordings displays them by topic name.
And if you download a file, you get a filename that contains a session number; like: filemaker_DC_13_33.mp4
But since that number isn't displayed anywhere on the recordings web page, it isn't possible to tell which sessions you have already downloaded.
I've searched my inbox for an email with that subject line, but no luck. I was out of town last week; maybe I I overzealously deleted it. Are you able to re-send me that email?
Delfina and to everyone at FileMaker who make these a realilty. Thank you!
I konw I have pestered for these for years and I am really glad to see these again now for the second year. I can't tell you how much of a huge value to the community this is. For example I watched a session by Matthew O'Dell that I was not able to attend. And got some interesting ideas from it.
Again thank you very much.
Just forwarded it to you.
Delfina, I have checked my inbox for "DevCon 2013 Session Recordings Now Available" but didn't find it. could you please forward to me. Thanks, Tom
Can I get your last name so I can look you up on the DevCon reg db?
sorry about that, last name is Magolo
Resent the email.
Got it, thank you very much.
One recording is missing: DES019 Great Interface Design Patterns for FileMaker Pro - Ernest Koe
The Design Patterns for **GO** is there, but not **PRO**.
I noticed this after downloading 32 files and then reading the intro paragraph again, "There are a total of 33 recordings..." It took some sleuthing too, since as Bruce pointed out, the file-naming is apparently based on the order the sessions were recorded, rather than something useful.
As Tony described, I rename all the session folders with the code and description so I can find them later, and I've renamed the videos to match. If everyone is doing that, we're wasting a few hundred hours of developer time.
Anyway... looking forward to catching up on sessions I missed, including DES019. It's great that DevCon now includes this. Thanks.
