Not v familiar with Windows, but does it have the multiple possible locations for plugins and hence a conflict that doesn't happen with advanced?
This sounds like it is an issue beyond FMPro to me. If you haven't already done so I suggest you install FMPro on the same machine where you have Advanced working OK and see if the same issue arises. If not, then look to other issues on the problem machine(s).
Had a similar problem once, try either running just the MSI installer or running the setup.exe as 'administrator'.

For those who have this problem in the future. The answer is...
- Uninstall 12 (we had done that)
- Uninstall 11 (I didn't mention that before, and we didn't do it previously because, it was mission critical to the client--besides they aren't supposed to conflict)
- Delete the FileMaker folder
- Reinstall 12
- Reinstall 11
Boom it works, but wait there's more. Something is still being a little turd. 11 is crashing now. As some of you may have already thought, it's probably another plugin. We are trouble shooting. So, perhaps all of this doesn't matter, perhaps its just some dern unavoidable conflict. But that still doesn't answer the question of why FileMaker Advanced DID work and Pro did not.
You might want to read up on where Plugins are installed for each version of FMP.

The location of the extension installations may explain whats happening.
