[Ann] Mail List Maker: an advanced email marketing solution

    Mike Duncan

      Introducing Mail List Maker

      http://www.maillistmaker.com/

Here at Logicurio, we have been busy burning the midnight, afternoon, and even dawn oil and are very proud to introduce our first product to the FileMaker community...Mail List Maker.

If you are thinking about adding email marketing (and you should be) then you need our products and services.

Find out a little bit more about why you need Mail List Maker:

      http://www.maillistmaker.com/why.php

Just check out what it can do...Watch our intro here:

      http://www.maillistmaker.com/intro.php

(Also be sure to watch our Surveys and Events module demonstrations...)

Mail List Maker is aimed at small to medium sized organizations and workgroups and goes way beyond simply blasting out emails, like some other solutions you might be familiar with.

A few select clients have already been using it successfully for the past several years. You can see several testimonials at our site.

Mail List Maker is the ultimate email solution for saving you time, money, and frustration. This easy-to-integrate resource allows you to...

      • Track your campaign beyond the send button...

      • Know who is viewing your email...

      • Understand where they are coming from...

      • Get a feel for what they are using...

      • Send out Surveys and gather results

      • Create Events and send out invitations

      • Collect and analyze valuable information so you can target your message (and increase your return on investment)...

      • Allow people to subscribe directly from your web site

      • Set up Autoresponders for drip marketing...

      • Plus so much more!

"Email is the Heart of the Internet"

According to a recent report from MarketingSherpa, 65% of all email users felt that email was the best way for companies to communicate with them. As they say, “Email: The Heart of the Internet”

Bottom line...if you are not using email to speak to your clients, you are wasting an extremely measurable and cost-effective tool...and if you are using email, we think we can help you make it better. If you are at all focused on brand—and revenue—building with an online presence, email is a logical and essential part of the plan.

Adding email marketing to the services you can offer your clients makes you more valuable. For Developers and Consultants, you might have a relationship with a client because you developed a website or software for them. Now imagine that you can offer them a simple and cost-effective way to market their product or service. Your clients will be quick to grasp the potential that email marketing offers, and they will want to make the most of it (and you).

And of course, because it is built with FileMaker, it is easy to extend and connect to existing systems.

For a limited time, we are offering special pricing during our introductory period. Save now before prices go up! See our site for pricing information.

If you are in Education or are an Non-Profit, we will even give you the application for FREE as a donation.

Mike, this is very cool that you released such a comprehensive tool.

I have one question, that I'm sure you'll get asked alot:

Does it integrate with web-based Email management systems (MailChimp, Constant Contact, Vertical Response, etc., etc.)? And/or how does this compare to those?

There are of course integration and UX advantages to controlling this within FileMaker, but as your mailing list size and traffic grow it introduces a couple of challenges:

          1. Scalability - Sending large amounts of email directly via FileMaker can be slower.

          2. Unsubscribe - List subscribers may expect to do this via a web page. It's easy to create a web page link to do this (and maybe hook it to FM via IWP or CWP), but the web-based systems already have the interaction for this process nailed down. There's a big legal (i.e. anti-spam) burden for organizations to handle unsubscribe requests clearly, efficiently and accurately.

I'd also be interested to hear how you handle abuse/spam compliance if you have AWS running the backend mail servers.

              Hi Jay,

These are good questions! I will try to address each of your questions below...

Q: Does it integrate with web-based Email management systems (MailChimp, Constant Contact, Vertical Response, etc., etc.)? And/or how does this compare to those?

A: Most of these fall into a category of ESP (Email Service Provider) which also focus on delivering email in addition to other features. Each of these will have their own options and sometimes their own API for integrating with external data and applications. So it is possible to use Mail List Maker with these other services, based on the tools that they provide, or some customization to integrate more closely.

Mail List Maker is an advanced application that can be compared to those systems, but it is not viewed as a direct competitor. On the face, it offers some similar features, but allows you to:

              1. Remain in control of your data (you never need to upload your contact list to another service.)

              2. Easily extend by connecting to your enterprise data to provide functionality (for example custom reporting, or targeted product listings in each individual's email.)

              3. Other interesting things such as gathering feedback with a survey or managing an event, including attendance (see our site for video demos.)

Q: Scalability - Sending large amounts of email directly via FileMaker can be slower.

A: Not necessarily. This is partially dependent on your smtp server, how that is configured and how much bandwidth, etc that has. Mail List Maker has some optimization in it to make sending as quick as possible by opening a smtp connection once, sending multiple messages and then disconnecting.

One of the features of Mail List Maker is that you can use it with any smtp server. There are many low cost commercial options and we have one that we recommend and will even set up and manage for you. You may also want to establish your own smtp server for marketing purposes, and we offer those services as well.

Q: Unsubscribe - List subscribers may expect to do this via a web page.

A: Mail List Maker makes it easy for you to provide an unsubscribe link on each email that you send out. You can even set it force in an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, in case it is not part of your template or message.

There is also no dependency on IWP (instant web publishing) or CWP (custom web publishing) so there is no need for you to invest in FileMaker server, or your own web server. Mail List Maker securely syncs with our web services to deliver data right to your desktop, automatically processing unsubscribes, as well as any other tracking data.

Of course, we recommend best practices for sending email to comply with any laws or regulations. Our application has features in it to allow you to stay in compliance, in the end you are responsible for the content that you send. By no means is this a tool to send spam or unwanted email.

If there are any other questions, feel free to ask! You can also check out our site for demo videos and more info.

              Thanks

              Mike

                Mike,

In our application, the SMTP server is a configurable option. AWS provides a easy, low cost SMTP service that uses some of the same scalable services that Amazon uses to do it's own marketing. They take care of monitoring abuse/spam through their servers in addition to maintaining the server, so you don't have to set up SPF, DKIM or maintain a mail server if you don't want to.

In the case of AWS, bounces and abuse reports are kicked back to an email address (optionally specified as a return path which Mail List Maker supports.) From there, we can access the specified account via POP and process bounces in our application.

Additional work in maintaining a list and keeping it clean are some of the technical services we provide.

                Thanks

                  Greetings Mike,

Thanks for developing this exciting new tool. We are a educational nonprofit currently using ESP IContact with a subscriber list of about 4,000. We are trying to find a solution for syncing our new subscribers to multiple lists via opt-in forms on our two websites with our FM database. A few questions:

                  1. I noticed the opt-in form available. Can you make multiple forms with varying fields that subscribe users to different lists? Would it support a sign-up form such as this: http://engagedteaching.org/book-grant
                  2. If there is more functionality through IContact, do you think MLM could be a supplement to this and we could setup an API?

                  Thanks!
                  David

                    Hi David,

Thanks for the feedback! It sounds like you would be an ideal candidate for our product.

The opt-in form builder in our product can certainly be extended, it can even go into your existing database and with a little web scripting populate MLM as well. We already have a client doing exactly that and it works fine.

While I haven't worked with IContact specifically, most ESPs offer a developer API so there is the possibility for integration. It may depend on what level of integration you are looking for. You might find there is more flexibility and possibilty for extending what can be sent with our tool, especially if you have a FileMaker based system in place that you are looking to build on.

Also, since you mention being education nonprofit, I will mention that we will donate our application for education and/or nonprofit organizations, in addition to discounting our rates for training and installation and other services.

Let me know if you have any other questions, or you can also contact us directly for more information.

                    Thanks!,

                    Mike
