It must be Saturday - time to experiment.
I have done some more experimenting with this.
I installed FM13 on a Windows 7 computer running Office 2010 and everything works as expected.
On Windows 7 and Windows 8 each running Office 2013 using the Send Mail script step freezes both Filemaker and Outlook and they have to be killed using the Task Manager.
FM 12 works as expected on both versions of Outlook.
It looks like there is an incompatibility beween FM13 and Outlook 2013
Has anyone come up with a workaround or solution for this? Changing the Send Mail via Client to Send Mail via SMTP server in our situation would require modifying many scripts. Reverting back to FM 12 is also a poor option, since we are taking advantage of some of FM 13's new features. Has Filemaker commented on this?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
I found the FM - Outlook interface to be extremely flakey...even with FM 12 and Outlook 2007/2010. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Could be a memory problem as both applications use a fair amount.
I am encountering the same problem with Outlook 10, FM 13 and Windows 7. Does anyone have anymore info on this?
With help from the list, we finally worked out it is an incompatibility between the 32 bit Filemaker 13 and 64 bit versions of Microsoft Office.
I was able to overcome the problem by removing Office and installing 32 Bit versions of that software. That worked on 2 computers (1 win7 1 Win 8) that were giving the problem.
The weird thing was Filemaker 12 worked OK with the 64 bit Office.
