I have a field from a related table on a layout and the data only shows up in 10 of the 150 records, what could be causing this.
Here is a screen shot of the relationships
Where exactly is “here”? Did you mean “there”? Anyway, the screenshot is MIA …
Without being able to see the actual file (hint!), we need a lot more background info – what is happening where, what is supposed to happen etc.
You have given very little information, but my best guess as to where to start looking is the content of your match fields. You may well find rogue "invisibles" such as leading or trailing space or trailing carriage returns are causing the relationship to break down. A field containing, say, "ID1234" will not make a valid match with " ID1234" or "ID1234 ", etc.
I have found why but haven't worked out why. I had a case portal on the system table and anything I had there (10)came up and once I deleted them they went away. So I gather it was working thru that relationship.
I joined two tables but they don't show as been related, maybe if that gets explained it will all fall into place.
In that case, address the relationship you are trying to make (you may have to make a new TO) and it should work.
I thought thats what I did, was the screen shot attached
Actually, you have connected everything to everything else (a familiar sight); so the records you see from Cases when you're on System is determined by the matching records in Shipping Items table. This may not necessarily be what you want, but this is only an assumption, since I've no idea what System does, and you're not exactly forthcoming with details.
As keywords suggested, you may have to create a new Cases TO that is directly connected to the Systems TO without being filtered by Shipping Items.
You are totally right in your assumption. I'm new to the forum and FM for that matter so not sure how much info you require,
Anyway briefly this is what I trying to do with my database,
I have 5 main tables, 1. Systems, 2. Cases, 3. Items 4. Shipping 5. Shipping items. A number of cases make up a system, The items are what are in the cases . The shipping lists are of Cases I need to send to different destinations. I don't always send every case in each system but mainly 90%.
System layout has a portal showing all the cases that are in the system, I use a radio button to mark each case out of that system which is active as some are archived but return to the system at times
Cases Layout shows the items in that case.
Shipping Layout has the Shipping items portal where I enter the Cases I sending and adds up the weight and cubic of the shipment.
Hopefully enough details

Or not, since, as I gather, this is your issue.
If you want from the context of System to see all existing Cases – regardless of their association with specific Shipping Items, and probably in preparation of associating them with Items – create a new TO of Cases and connect it to System with a Cartesian relationship, i.e. in the Edit Relationship dialog, connect any two fields using the x operator. A portal on System using that new TO will show you all Cases records, unfiltered.
Got it. I just did the attached relationships and it all started working. Not sure if the right way but it works
