Filemaker Go can't connect to hosted databases remotely

    vuyea

Filermaker Go can connect to the hostcomputer with FM pro12 running , but the hosted files cannot be shown on the ipad. The dialog then prompts to put in the filename, but this does not work (file not found).

      Can anyone help?

          Hi Vuyea,

Please provide more information on the setup of your network and how the iPad is supposed to be connecting with the file you are wanting to share.

Can it be that Sharing has not yet been enabled in the file you want to share? The file will also have to open in FMP 12 on the hosting computer and sharing enabled before FMGo will see its filename.

          I hope this helps,

          John

iPad is connecting via wireless and the fm sever is on the Lan. You need to map port 5003 on your firewall from wireless wan to the fm server IP.

Make sure you only have one version of FileMaker Pro open on the host computer.  If you have two versions open, the iPad will not connect properly.

I feel that indeed this is a network problem, since all other suggested causes are cared for. I have explored my network, not so simple because I'm not a specialist. Nevertheless, by testing, I feel that there is some indication.

I have a new modem since a few months and a (new) computer since a year. My old computer is still there, and Filemaker Go perfectly recognizes a hosted fmp12 file on that computer (external files on host via wifi). But a file hosted on my new computer (with Filemaker off on the old) is not recognized. Filemaker Go sees the host, but the files are not shown. Interestingly the filemaker network setting dialog box shows a single ip on the old computer, but shows two on the new one (f.i. 192.168.1.17; 192.168.1.16). I feel this may be the problem, but what to do about it?
