Thanks but you are putting in http and not https.
doesn't work on the insert from url:
What I really need is tracking info by sending a url like this:
if you try to remove the https for http it will say:
<body><h1>Object Moved</h1>This object may be found <a HREF="https://www.abfs.com/tools/trace/default.asp?hidSubmitted=Y&refno0=160003943&reftype0=a">here</a>.</body>
I tried a web viewer and it worked as expected. Its possible the web site has code to prevent automatic processing. The Insert From URL is not a web browser and will not respond to page code like Flash and Java Script. For example something that requires a handshake with their server could prevent the server from supplying a valid page. Sites that have confidential information and those that don’t want their site information used elsewhere can code to prevent this sort of blind download.
Using the real URL you want to use I get the same timeout. The help system says this script step supports HTTPS. But, I don’t have another HTTPS web site test with so. . . Anyone else been able to use it?
As another potential gotcha to consider, some sites may want to use authentication, which might also be a problem since there is no option to supply credentials with the current command. You can embed them into the URL and they should work. But some sites reject that as insecure.
Since this isn’t working on this site I suggest using a web viewer and scraping the results. Its the way we did it before this step was introduced.
Ok. Thank you for confirming. That is too bad. I am not sure the web viewer technique would run on the server as an automated script at least in FileMaker 11 Server. Maybe on 13?
