I was wondering if anyone has deployed filemaker server on Amazon web service? If so, how has it worked, what issues did you have etc.
Yes, we are currently running a pretty large database of about 80 files give or take and it work great. About 15 users connect to this database via RDP and it seems very responsive.
Here are the specs: Instance Size = m3.xlarge, Architecture = AMD64, Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter Service Pack 1. 15Gb of Ram.
We are looking at other hosting providers with a full package available where we don't need to learn the technical aspects of managing hardware, and security specs.
Note that we offer virtual dedicated servers for FileMaker, both managed and unmanaged. We have been providing professional FileMaker hosting for 15 years now. Please contact me off-list either here by private message or at jmay(at)pointinspace.com for details.
Thank you kacike!
I am also evaluating AWS as FMS platform.
I understand that it highly depends on the traffic, but could you give us a rough number of the monthly or yearly cost?
You might want to take a look at this post from yesterday: https://fmdev.filemaker.com/message/135262#135262 In it, I included some estimated pricing for a couple of Amazon EC2 instances.
I saw your post and it was helpful indeed, thank you!
After 'Like'd your post, I commented here because it seemed to be a good opportunity to collect another information from a real-world solution. ;-)
