Unfortunately, that is the way FM Go works. Doesn't make sense but there is a work around. You could display the field contents in a web viewer.
Don't allow access in browse mode.
If you can't enter data, it doesn't make sense to enter in browse mode, but you may need to enter the field in Find mode.
Hope this helps.

A web viewer and entering the field in Find mode unfortunately are not going to work for what I'm trying to achieve, which is; entering a text field without the keyboard popping up, being able to scrall through the text and only have the keyboard popup when you want to edit the text. In other words; being able to mimic the behaviour of a simple app such as Notes.
I thought I had found a technique but the only problem is that entering a calculated text field make the keyboard popup.
Perhaps somebody at FileMaker Inc. can confirm whether this is a bug and will be fixed or whether this is expected behaviour.

Filemaker rarely (ever) confirms bugs on this forum. And never says when a bug is going to be fixed.
This is a better place to discuss bugs with FM reps: http://forums.filemaker.com/hives/1eea103f05/summary
My advice is to figure out another way. Maybe a OnObjectKeystroke trigger that absorbs any typing (though doesn't prevent pasting), an ObjectModify that reverts, or validation.
I'm fairly sure that FileMaker views this as expected behavior. If the cursor can go in the field, the keyboard will pop but it you dismiss the keyboard, the cursor is removed and the field is still scrollable without the keyboard. The keyboard will only appear if you tap inside the field.
How can this be expected behaviour ? ... if you can not enter text into a calculated field why bother showing the keyboard !?
It's really astonishing that you can easily create the most beautifull interfaces in FileMaker 13 but that the most basic user interaction as how to enter, scrall and edit a text field can not be accomplished ... really mind boggling ...
I fully agree with you on the keyboard issue. This issue is similar to when you would click into a field it would automatically expand to two line. It was not a bug but it was also not a very nice user experience. In FileMaker 13 this was changed. I would expect somewhere down the road the keyboard issue with Calc fields will be changed. Since we know have the ability to select multiple keyboards, it would be great to be able to have the option to turn the keyboard off.
