Hi, all, when using the separation model I guess I need to firstly distribute the data.fp12 to users and then the ui.fp12 wherein there is an external data connection to data.fp12 ?
Yes, that is correct.
Instead of distributing two files, create a global container field in the ui.fmp12 file and store the data.fmp12 file in the container. When the ui.fmp12 file is installed, have it export the field contents of the global field to install the data.fmp12.
What a great idea...except I can't imagine what the script looks like...and I assume there's a clever way of ensuring it only fires once, after installation. Sounds a really neat idea...can you give me a few more details about how it works, though, please ?
...and I guess the only way to distribute it would be via email, right, or is there a way to get it onto the app store ?
You could run something like this in a start up script.
If( not IsEmpty(global_container_field)
Export Field Contents (global_container_field)
Set Field (global_container_field; "")
It's not going to go on the iTunes store. There are multiple ways to distribute it. You could email it, download from a link on a website, use dropbox, use itunes or diskaid.
