Im planing on attending the DevCon this year and possibly take advantage of the Early Bird Rate - does anyone know if you get the FMPro Advanced 13 software/license right away or at the conference?
Not sure about last year, but the 2 years I attended it was presented at the conference on registration.
To confirm what "TimAnderson" said, the FileMaker Pro Advanced software is distributed at the Developer's Conference when you check in.
It has been every year (5) I've attended.
What format is it distributed in? Is it downloadable? I have a Mac Book Air with only USB and Wireless.
The last time I attended, a couple of years ago, it was handed out as a Disc package with installation codes which were comparable to off-the-rack boxed copies, not personalized VLA-type install codes like you get when buying via download. I don't believe there is a downloadable version of Advanced which isn't keyed to the individual purchase, so those codes would be different that the distributed copies if they continue with past practices
I'd bring or borrow an USB Super Drive to use with a MacBook Air. Good chance you can find one there, but better to toss one in your travel bag. You'll only need it in your room for the installation, no need to lug it about.
It will be an Electronic Software Download (ESD). (No DVD this year). We'll hand out the software license key at registration.
Delfina, is the entirety of devcon paperless this year? Not that I was ever collecting the books, but software discs are seemingly so passé on the apple platform these days, and you seem to be going in that direction.
Yes, we've eliminated the DVDs. We will have a printed conference guide (small booklet). There's still some goodness to have a handy flip-through schedule to make notes and such.
Since I am in the printing business I always live to hear people wanting a printed version.
