Beep, script step or on spelling error, doesn't work

    jsanders

Client: FMP on Win7 Pro (tested on 2 different client machines)

DB hosted on FMP 12.x server

      accessable via LAN

Script with following steps results in deafening silence:

      beep

      beep

      beep

      beep

File>File Options>Spelling>Beep on questionable spellings =ON AND the mis-spelled word "taxblet" in a field... result in deafening silence.

      Any suggestions?

The beep relies on the volume settings of the client machine rather than anything  in FMPro, so that may be part of it.

I have also found that a 0.5 second timed script pause between each beep can keep them from all running together so fast that the OS has trouble playing them separately.

            Thank you Stephen.

cutting the script down to a single beep also fails.

I've been digging around on the interwebs and have come to agree that is is most likely nothing to do with FM.

Here is the work aound I'm using.

build a batch file that beeps then call it using Send Event script step.

first:  build batch file that beeps.

from command prompt type:  copy con beep.bat [enter] [control] g [control] z [enter]

            (this creates the file beep.bat)

call the batch file using the send event script step open doc/application -specify file path

Its not ideal but it will do what I need it to right now.
