Run a script on the host in a peer to peer setup (not server)

I have a number of Filemaker Pro clients accessing a hosted database on a local network. I am struggling to find a way for a client to tell the host to execute a script on the host PC.

The script is a Import script that uses SQL import to get data from a a Sage (accounting package) database. Unfortunately the clients are unable to run it as the SQL does not run/connect on remote PCs so no records are returned.

I suppose that I am looking for the "Perform Script on Sever" that is available in Filemaker 13 Server. But we do not have the Server version.

I have tried using the OnTimer step, but as the process is intensive, it hangs everyones access when performing.

Ideally I would like to add a "flag" that the host looks at at regular intervals (OnTimer?) and if set it performs the script and resets the flag.

Currently using Version 11 - Although looking to move to V13 shortly (if that helps)

Any ideas?
