What Operating System and browser? Are you blocking popups? It sounds like you're getting the JNLP file, but it is not opening. Do you have the latest Java installed? If on a Mac, do you have the "Security & Privacy" System Preference set to allow applications downloaded from "Anywhere"? FileMaker's JNLP is not registered with Apple and is not an approved software from an identified developer. So you have to tell it to open "Anywhere".

I believe the most recent version of Java (version 7 update 51) doesn't work with Admin Console. On my Mini I installed the newest Java and can't launch Admin Console. On my MBP I still have version 7 update 45 and it can launch Admin Console.

But all this shouldnt matter because I have a second server and there I connect without problems!
To this (new) one I am trying to connect over the Internet (not on the same network). But like I said I can connect to the startpage, so the console should be able establish a connection, right?

Java version 7.51 has a new security feature that requires any App running in Java RTE to be connecting to an authorized location. So you will have to register your FMS12 URL as an authorized location in the Java Control Panel (not the FMS Admin Console).
