Placeholder in if formulas - "*"?!

    daja

      Hi everybody,

If a problem with a filemaker formula... its an "If"-Formula written in German (Wenn-Formel)

      Wenn (Address ID = "K*" ; "JA" ; "Fehler")

From my point of view filemaker should put out a "JA" if the Address ID field contains "KPML000009" or "K000009" or "KL000009" but unfortunately this is not the case.

So my question is what is necessary to explain Filemaker that the If-Formula is "JA" if "Address ID" starts with "K" followed by somthing.

THX in advance for your help

      Dave

… because the wildcard only works in Find queries; it is not valid expression syntax. Try …

          Case ( Left ( Address ID ; 1 ) = "K" ; "JA" ; "Fehler")

On the other hand, since the prefix is calculated from the category field, why not examine that field?
