Value List showing based upon another Field

    JFWX5

      Hi,

      I have 2 fields:

      "State of Death"

      "City of Death"

      and

      One Value List

      "RI Cities & Towns"

If the person's State of Death is Rhode Island, I would like the RI Cities & Towns value list to appear so that the user can select from it. I don't want them to be allowed to override the list and put in something else.

If the person's State of Death is other than Rhode Island, no value list will appear and they may enter anything they wish.

      How would this be done?

      Thanks,

      John

          Hi, create 2 tables.

          1. States of Death

          2 Cities of Death

In States of Death create 2 fields

          State

          City

In Cities of Death create 2 fields

          State

          City

Create a relationship betwen States of Death and Cities of Death tables using the field State=State. Since only the state of Rhode Island will be in the State field in the City of Death table, you can create a conditional value list in he SofD table based on the relationship State to State. Use a Drop down list in the SoD table and choose values from field city in CofD table based on the State relationship and this will on show a list of the cities when Rhode Island is entered. You can also manually enter cities of other states.
