Nice idea on putting it in a web portal. My machine has security turned on, but it is a development server and I did not put an ICANN authorized SSL certificate on it. So it won't load the page for me. Is there a way to bypass the SSL certificate warning in a FileMaker web portal?
Sorry, I should have created some guide or docs.... but don't have much time at the moment....
And you are correct. If the certificate is not verified, then you can't load in the webviewer.
However, there is a way around...
Go to your webbrowser and load the server admin console.
You should get certificate warning here.
Instead of just accepting, press "Show certificate" (this varies from browser)
You should have the ability to "allow" or "add security exception".
Now check the Allow box or button, and you should be promted for your computer password.
After this, you have created a setting on your computer, that this certificate is now allowed.
Now, you can load it in the tool.
Ahhh... I should have thought of that. Yes, approving the certificate in Safari took care of the web portal issue in FileMaker. Thank you Claus. My initial preview of it is positive! Good job.
I should have created a small guide, but was out of time.... Here is a couple of small things;
* Should run in FMP13 only
* If your server does not have a valid certificate, you should first go to your browser and connect. When you get the warning, make sure to approve this certificate always. Then your computer will save that setting and you will be able to connect in the tool.
* Only enter the servers address or ip. No http or path needed
* Click on username and password fields, will copy the values, so you could just paste in the admin console login window.
Thanks, hope it will be helpful, and remember it is totally open and free, so you can modify as you like...
