Server 2008 & FMS v11 - IWP not working on Apache browser

    robear

What is the proper setup for the following type of install?

Specifically, how to get IWP & ODBC working?

      Any info is greatly appreciated.

The following install was provided by the client IT dept as part of a migration from an existing cloud where both IWP & ODBC work perfectly:

(IT also has a history of locking down ports (both in & out)

      OS: Windows Server 2008 SP2

      FMServer: v11.0v3 (single machine install)

      FM Server Overview:

Web Server, WPE, Database Server are all ON

Files are all checked for Pro/IWP/ODBC/JDBC

      Status: normal

Apache: points to C:Datahtdocs using port 80

IIS: points to C:inetpubwwwroot using port 8080

FMS is available on IP: 172.0.0.0

IP 69.0.0.0 is open for IWP

As it stands IWP does not present the login on either address:

      http://IP/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html

Nor is the link from Admin Console successful in accessing the IPW

      ODBC connection fails as well

On Windows, IWP does not work with Apache, only IIS.

The ODBC connection failure is probably due to a closed port.  Make sure 2399 is open

Are those IP addresses real?  The 69 one is Class A nd the 172 is class B, is that intended?

            Hi Wim

Thanks for the heads up (IWP IIS only & ODBC port 2399)

The IP addresses are real (first octets only), other 3 octets were not included

Yes, I exoect the IT tech intentionally set the IPs as they were specifically provided.

Any thoughts on how the original Cloud (still working) managed to use Apache instead of IIS?

Maybe because it was an OSX machine?

The URL that you gave in your original post (http://IP/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html) does not specify a port so it defaults to port 80, and you stated that you have Apache listening on that port.  So that's not going to work.

Does the FMS admin console report that the web server and WPE are fully functional (green)?

The FMS start page (not admin console) has a couple of links to test the different technologies (IWP, CWP,...) do those work?

                • Original Cloud is Server 2008 (run on Parallels VM with Plesk Control Panel)

                • Yes Admin Console shows all 3 green lights Web Server...

                • The IWP link points to the IP (172.../fmi/iwp/...) same IP as FM Server is running on

                     - the IP in the IWP links of the original post was left blank because neither IP 69.... nor 172... worked

                • Do you know if the PHP in IIS will work the same as on Apache or are there some anomalies

                   - this exercise is all about a FileMaker solution successfully communicating with a web portal (PHP & mySQL)

Then it can never have worked with Apache.  That's a red herring.  Unless it is a two-machine config with the db engine on Windows and the WPE on OSX (Apache).

Why do you think it works with Apache on that cloud server?  What's the configuration?

                  And does it work?

When FMS is installed you have the option to install the required PHP version.  Did you do that?

As long as the PHP versions are the same as your old provider then there will be no issues.
