Wondering if any fellow coaster enthusiasts were scoping out a trip to Six Flags Fiesta Texas after Devcon. Growing up an hour away from Cedar Point in Ohio, I've definitely got the coaster bug.
Anyone interested in arranging a group for Friday?
If it's not too far, I may be up for it.
24 minute drive from the Marriott. I will most likely have a rental car and can fit a few people in for the day.
I'd certainly be up for it!!
I'm heading to Cedar Point in a month!! Haven't been in like 12 years.
I'm in! Probably.
I'll be there June 6th for a day off excursion before it gets too busy with kids. Haven't been there since they tore down disaster transport and put up the gatekeeper so I've got a few new things to look forward to.
If you haven't been in twelve years, do yourself a favor and get a fast pass, there's so many rides you shouldn't waste your time in line. the lower tier fastpass will get you no-line rides on everything except top thrill dragster and gatekeeper, and trust me, with rides like millenium force and maverick, you won't miss those two.
Sounds good. I'll probably make a flyer to post on the corkboard with meetup details for Friday morning (we'll probably meet at the gates, unless there's enough interest here to do a van rental or something). Now I just need to remember not to drink too much on Thursday night...
I'll be there June 2 and 3 I think. Still working out the details. We're going to do two days and stay at their hotel. One day we'll get the fast pass, probably the sunday and hit as many as we can. I'm going to hit all of them many times. I rode the Transport one time and liked it. I'm excited for the new ones that they have!
I am a total coaster nut, I'm in.
Sounds good, look for the flyer on the message board at devcon with the meetup details.
I'm not sure we'll have enough people to get any sort of group discount (15 people minimum), but since the group rate is discounted $36/pp off general gate admission ($28.99/pp advance), I might just buy 15 tickets in advance myself and have people reimburse me.
In case Todd Weller isn't paying attention to this thread, I'm going to forward. I think he qualifies as a coaster aficionado.
my plan is to pre-purchase a group pack of 15 passes and offer them to devcon attendees via the bulletin board (or just find me throughout the week, since I'm presenting it shouldn't be too hard!). The group rate is discounted as noted above. If we end up getting more than 15 people going, I can purchase additional group passes at the gate.
Good evening, Mike.
A co-worker and I are planning to visit Six Flags after DevCon. Do you still have any of the tickets available you planned to purchase? And if so, do you need me to send you the money in advance or just pay you when we both get to San Antonio? Please let me know at your convenience. Thanks.
Will be picking up the tickets next week, it will be a 15 pack of group tickets and I’ll have them first come first serve at devcon at the discounted $28.99 (& tax if applicable) per person. Given the response of this thread so far, we should have tickets, I'm planning to save tickets for the people that posted here.
Additionally, if interest is high I believe that we're allowed to add group members and purchase additional group rate tickets at the gate, so we'll most likely meet up as a group at the gate on Friday morning to get tickets for any stragglers at the discounted rate.
Look for the flyer I will have posted on the board at devcon!
I have purchased the 15 pack of tickets to get the group rate.
Ticket price is $31.38 per person after tax, that's a hefty discount!
Fortunately, I can add tickets on at the same price at the gate the day of, so even if I sell the 15 discount tickets, I can get more people in at the group rate as long as you stick with our group.
I'll probably be distributing tickets at the monday post-keynote welcome reception, so look around for me there!
FYI, each ticket has it's own barcode, so if you get a ticket from me you don't have to carpool with the general group Friday morning.
I had thought that my partner Chris committed already but in speaking to him today, he has not. Both of us are interested in going and would enjoy this opportunity. We're looking forward to the coasters!
Thank you for organizing this!
Awesome! Just track me down Monday evening to get your tickets.
Great and thank you!
We'll look for you at the welcome reception and get them from you there.
Really looking forward to it and again, thank you for organizing this!
Do you have a preferred payment method for getthing the money to you? I just want to make sure I have enough cash with me. If you have a PayPal account, I could send you the funds in advance if that's better for you. Just let me know. Thanks
I have a paypal, but only if you want to pay the fee! Check, money order or cash is fine.
Wasn't able to find you Monday evening for us to get our tickets. Looked for you but it was a bit of a crowd.
Feel free to email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) to get my mobile number to text me a good place to meet during the event. I'm sure, though, we'll run into each other at some point.
Thank you Mike!
I was overwhelmed in talking with people last night!
You can try catching me at lunch today (will try to be seated around the visionary bar area), or at the developers cup tonight.
Worst-case anyone can join us Friday morning in the lobby (9-9:30), as I can purchase additional tickets for the discount price at the park if needed.
Big thank you to Mike Beargie for coordinating the Coast Enthusiast hang out at Six Flags! Chris and I had a great (and HOT) day enjoying some new coasters, like the Iron Rattler with others from the FileMaker Community!
Thank you Mike!!!!
I concur. Thanks again MIke for all of your effort. It was great spending some with folks that share a passion for FileMaker and roller coasters.
