Seems like FileMaker has been embedding version 7.0 of IE into the windows version all the way up to FMP v 13.
IE 7 is obviously not playing well with HTML 5... When can we expect the embedded browser to be updated ?
Kris, how are you testing for this? Just curious.
I got result 11.0 on the page with FM13/IE11/Win7.
and install FM13 on new PC(IE11/Win7) results 7.0
There is updater for FM11
This update is affect on FM13 or 12 since it specifies .exe filename (not full path).
"7000 (0x1B58) is Default value for applications hosting the WebBrowser Control."
I wonder why FM13 installer doesn't set the registry.
FM doesn't have 'embedded IE', it only use your IE as embedded.
Ok so the code on the page is probably at fault..
If open http://whichbrowser.net/ a webviewer shows the IE version that is installed.
Guess my query was a waste of time.
Thanks for the sanity check.
Interestingly FileMakers documentation states "On Windows the Web Viewer control is based on Internet Explorer, on Mac OS X it is based on Safari."
Make me wonder what "based on" actually means...
p.s webviewer plays fine with html5.. my original test webviewer was too small to judge the actual ability to render html5 sites.
Based on means using IE program modules. IE is already installed on all Windows, so FM itself doesn't need to install it.
IE has old version emulator, so I think the site you mensioned
shows real running (emulated) version, not program version.
I didn't test all cases, but saw that clean installed FM13v1 use IE11 as IE7 mode.
FM11 web viewer updater changes registry value to 9000 (0x2328), then FM13 became IE11 mode.
Sorry for my ambiguous,
>I got result 11.0 on the page with FM13/IE11/Win7.
This my main PC (create new file for test on it, and first tested) has many FM versions installed and webviewer updater already applied.
the result is not equal to yours, so I use new machine for test
>and install FM13 on new PC(IE11/Win7) results 7.0
I added a plugin function to do this:
